Hurling Good luck to the Minor team who play Rahoon/Newcastle/Salthill/knocknacara in the County final on Saturday at 4pm in Athenry. This year our U8 hurlers have come in great numbers to training every Monday evening @ 6pm in the astroturf pitch. They have played numerous challenge matches and on sat the 13th Aug we travel along with the u10 panel to the Black and Whites hurling club in Kilkenny. It is a most enjoyable day for parents and kids. They Play teams from Cork, Waterford, Tipperary, Dublin and Kilkenny these games are always played to a very high standard with barely a puck of a ball between any of the teams. This year the team is Coached by Micheal Lawless, Paul Rodgers, Sarah Lawless and Micheal Finn. U16 Championship U-16's had their first championship game on Monday July 5th. Cappataggle emerged victorious against Killimor on a score line of 4-09 to 0-08. Intermediate Championship Intermediate Championship resumes this weekend with Cappataggle playing Ballygar in the final group game in Duggan Park Balliasloe on Sat evening next July 10th at 5.30. Underage Hurling The Under 8's and 10's had their first outing against the Blacks & Whites from Kilkenny who were our guests at the official opening of the new Astro-turf pitch and hurling wall on April 3rd. It was a very vigorous game with all the panel getting a chance to demonstrate their skills before the watchful gaze of Brian Cody and John McIntyre our special guests. Afterwards all the participants were treated to wonderful food and goodies in the Community centre and received a commemoratory medal from Brian Cody and John McIntyre. We had our second challenge match against Tommie Larkins on Friday 16th April in Cappataggle and had a very enjoyable game, with lots of parents supporting on a beautiful evening. Junvenile AGM 2010 The Cappataggle Juvenile Hurling AGM was held on January Thursday 28th 2010 having been re-fixed following the cancellation on the first occasion due to the severe weather and on the second, for the funeral of Fr Cummins, long serving PP of the parish who died aged 103. There was a large attendance and the 2009 Minutes were adopted by the members following a constructive discussion of years activities. The Chairman Ged Cronin thanked all those involved for their dedication and efforts and their respect for the children and the club. He encouraged managers and mentors to continue to promote good discipline. manners and respect for each other in the coming year. He also invited more parents to get involved and suggested that once involved that the rewards to be gained made it a very worthwhile pursuit. Tomas Finn in his Secretary's report called for improved communication between the Juvenile Hurling Board and the Clubs. He suggested that their operations during the year suggested a certain lack of professionalism and respect towards the Clubs. All Team Managers gave comprehensive reports to the Meeting on their progress and activities during the year.
